Happy Wednesday everyone! As we get closer to the holidays, are you finding it harder to stay focused on your wellness? It seems that this time of year, people get so busy that they forget to take care of themselves. I hope as we approach the end of the year, you’ll continue to use the Wellness Wednesday questions to remind you to make yourself a priority.
On Monday (yes, I’ve reverted to my old posting schedule), we talked about the spiritual dimension of wellness. As we talked about on Monday, for many of us, our religious beliefs shape who we are and keeps us spiritually healthy. For others, spiritual health may mean finding our purpose and making meaningful connections with the world around us.
Spiritual Wellness enhances our overall wellbeing, gives us a sense of purpose, helps us to be resilient, and helps strengthen the connection between our mind and body. It can also make it easier for us to make decisions because we base them on our values and guiding principles.
This week, let’s ask ourselves:
As you can see, there are only two questions here. In Monday’s post, there’s a list of questions that help us take an objective look at how we’re doing in the area of Spiritual Wellness.
Since our Spiritual Wellness impacts how we “are” in the world – our values, principles, our sense of purpose – it’s probably the most personal of all the dimensions of our wellness. It also has the capability to impact every aspect of our lives.
When we are spiritually healthy, we’re better able to make wise decisions, approach our lives with more optimism (whatever our circumstances) and wake up each morning realizing that we have a purpose in this world. That doesn’t mean that we don’t have bad days, or that we’re always sure of our purpose; it just means that we know we’re a part of something much bigger than ourselves.
Just as I said on Monday, since this is such a personal subject, I won’t ask any questions, but I’d love to hear anything you’d like to share.
** Just a scheduling note….I’ve decided to go back to my original Monday and Wednesday posting schedule because I didn’t like splitting up my main post and the Wellness Wednesday question since they’re related. I may still do the odd post on Fridays – special holiday posts, etc. I hope you each know how much I value and appreciate every single one of you!
