This past week has been wonderful! Our son was finally able to come visit us after almost two years, and I can’t tell you how happy this mama was! As you may have noticed, I was absent from the blogosphere for the time he was here. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him. When we have a chance to spend time with the ones we love, we need to use that time to really be with them.
For our family, that means hanging out at home watching movies or doing something crafty, taking walks on some of our beautiful trails, or going out for a meal or ice cream (yes, there may have been a couple of trips to our favorite ice cream truck).
However we choose to spend the time with our loved ones, the important thing is that we be present with them. There really isn’t any greater gift we can give those we love than the gift of our time and attention.
I’m so grateful our son took a whole week of vacation to spend it with us. It really did mean the world to us. I’m sure there were lots of (more fun) things he could do instead of spending time with his parents.
Our relationships with others – our social dimension of wellness – is so critical to our overall wellness. When we take the time and make the effort with our relationships, we are much more grounded and fulfilled.
I plan to get back to my regular schedule next week, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share a few photos from our time with our son. And yes, I did take pictures of him, but to protect his privacy, I’ll only share the one below.
How do you make sure you’re really present when spending time with your loved ones? Do you and your family or friends have any favorite activities? Please share!
