“It sounds like Wellness has a PR problem.” That’s what my Hubby said when I was talking about how people perceive the idea of Wellness.
Unfortunately, people seem to associate Wellness with sketchy supplements, essential oils, and unproven “cures” for various conditions. While dietary supplements or essential oils may be helpful for some people, that’s not what Wellness is all about.
Now I know this doesn’t apply to you. If you’ve been with me awhile, you know wellness is much more.
As we talked about in Wellness for Every Body, “UC Davis (1) defines wellness as “the process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.” (2) The National Wellness Institute adds that “wellness is multidimensional and holistic, encompassing lifestyle, mental and spiritual well-being, and the environment.”
One of my certifying agencies, Precision Nutrition, (3) refers to this as Deep Health.
Whatever you call it, Wellness is multi-dimensional, and taking an integrated approach to our Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, Social, and Spiritual health can help us live the fulfilling lives we want to live.
I usually try share things I think people need to know, or research I find interesting that can help people improve their health and wellness, but this week, I thought I’d ask you guys what YOU want to learn about wellness subjects.
So…. Let’s have your questions, or suggestions for topics you’d like to learn more about. Please tell us what you would like to learn about Wellness below.
Sharing is caring! If you know someone with Wellness questions, please share this with them.
